Tommy McGuire

Tommy McGuire is the 24-year-old son of Tom McGuire and Lori McGuire Balletta and brother of Andrew McGuire. On June 11, 2016 Tommy was involved in a swimming accident and suffered a devastating spinal cord injury. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. Tommy is paralyzed from his chest down. This quick dip into a pool altered the direction of Tommy’s life forever.

Tommy grew up in West Nyack, NY. Before Tommy’s accident he enjoyed playing baseball in the West Nyack LL and basketball with St. Paul’s CYO. Tommy attended Clarkstown South High School where he played, baseball and basketball, but his love was his football team where Tommy was their All Section Quarterback. Tommy recently graduated from Manhattan College with a Business Marketing degree. He has stayed very close with his high school friends and made many more friends through college and family around the tri-state area. Anyone who knows Tommy knows how big of a NY sports fan he is, except when it comes to football where he has been a passionate Carolina Panthers fan since he was 3 years old.

Tommy is facing a very difficult future for a young 23-year-old man. Those of us who love Tommy are committed to being there for him every step of his future. As we begin to face the reality of the situation, we are realizing that we will soon be completely overwhelmed with expenses. Tommy desperately needs your help.

To help offset such expenses, a fundraising campaign in Tommy’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years.
