Support Tony Gramkowski and Family by Funding Uninsured Medical Expenses

Hi everyone,
My name is Taylor, and my dad Tony has been diagnosed with a form of end stage heart failure known as CHF. Because of his age he is unable to qualify for a heart transplant but has been approved for an alternative surgical treatment – a left ventricular assist device, known as the LVAD.
In a week he will be going up to Boston for open heart surgery and the LVAD will be surgically implanted into his heart. The device will help increase blood flow and regulate the pumping of blood from his heart throughout the rest of his body, improving the function of his kidneys, liver, brain and other organs.
After the surgery he’ll spend 5-6 days in the ICU recovering and then stay an additional 4-6 weeks as an inpatient in the hospital, as he continues the recovery process and begins rehabilitation. Together along with my dad, my mom and I will learn everything about the mechanics of the device and how to operate it. Post surgery we will share in the responsibilities of caregiving, as he will need a caregiver with him 24/7 for the first 3 months while he recovers.
Since we live on an island, upon his return back home, he will continue traveling back and forth to rehab on the cape, while all LVAD related weekly, biweekly and monthly medical appointments will continue to be held regularly in Boston. My dad’s medical journey has been a long and emotional one, and the costs of uninsured medical expenses, physical therapy, continued travel, and lodging feel overwhelming. This is why were turning to you for help.
My parents are the most important people in the world to me. My dad is an absolutely incredible man who has faced many health obstacles over the years. He means the world to my family and me, and I know he means the world to many of you as well.
