Hi, my name is Tori. I’m 28 years old and am waiting for a heart transplant. On July 31st I took off work to go to a doctor’s appointment because my legs were swollen and I was coughing up blood. I was told to go immediately to the hospital because my doctor thought I had a pulmonary embolism. Unfortunately it was worse than that. I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. My ejection fraction (heart pump rate) was at 26%. I spent a week in the hospital on medication. During that time I learned my heart was enlarged and I had fluid in my lungs due to water retention (thats why my legs were swollen). About 3 weeks later I went to my cardiologist and found out my ejection fraction dropped to 6%. I had not been discharged with heart failure medication. I again was sent to the hospital but this time it was 2 hours away. I spent 2 weeks in the hospital getting heart catheters and testing done. In those 2 weeks I broke out into a severe rash due to an allergic reaction to my medication. Now since I been out of work I am having trouble paying for my bills and transportation to my weekly doctor’s visits 2 hours away. If anyone could help with donating, I would greatly appreciate it.
