Tracy White – My Story 
 
I approached my injury with the mindset “I will overcome and Live my Best Life”.  Understandably, there are low times and days that are a struggle.  I work to overcome by maintaining the proper attitude.   Every day is an “Opportunity” to improve.
 
I underwent emergency Spinal Cord surgery on October 8, 2018, due to purulent spinal cord condition at C3-4 and L2-3.  Although the surgery was successful and very likely saved my life, the tragic outcome was a prognosis of permanent Quadriplegia.
 
The injury happened towards the end of my hard working career.   I am the loving husband to Nanci and Dad to Nicholas and Grace.  
 
I worked in the water purification and minerals industries for over 30 years.  My co-workers and supporters have been behind me 100% of the way.
 
I work continually at ongoing therapy. I do my work at regional Neuroscience clinic and therapy facility.  I enjoy socializing and learning from the therapist’s and other patients.
 
Rehabilitation and Therapy are my focus these days.  I intend to: “Live my best Life” by being in the best condition and continuing with Functional Electrical Stimulation (F.E.S.).
 
F.E.S. is proven to provide long-term health benefits to a Spinal Cord patient due increased cardiovascular, overall muscle tone and strength.  Additionally,  improving overall core strength supports function in pelvic and bowel/bladder region. 
 
This overall strengthening and motion is exactly the therapy a Spinal Cord patient needs.  
 
The rehabilitation benefits of my overall therapy and stim biking work allowed me to rebuild my core and upper body strength.  This enabled me to earn my drivers license with adaptive endorsements in the past year.
 
I started with FES therapy very early during my recovery.  I then learned about the benefits of FES stim biking.  My overall health and wellbeing have steadily improved with my commitment to the stim biking program.  I learned about the Restorative Therapies RT 300 arm/core, when one was  purchased by the local therapy gym.
 
By maintaining my wellness through F.E.S. Stim Biking, I am thinking towards the future.  Stim biking enables better overall health, enabling me to avoid secondary complications that are prevalent among the SCI community.  My goal is to be in a position to be accepted into a SCI trial that perhaps could lead to a breakthrough for those with Spinal Cord Injury.
