Travis Spire-Sweet

As many of you may know, Travis was born with kidney disease and has dedicated his life to educating himself about this illness. As a teenager, he recognized the benefits of acupuncture and a holistic approach to medicine and that ultimately helped shape his decision to attend the Colorado School of Chinese Medicine.

Since graduation, Travis has become an advocate for kidney patients and he recently visited Washington D.C. to speak on their behalf. Travis is currently working to start a nonprofit organization that will help others who are dealing with the effects of kidney disease.

In order to have a long and healthy life, Travis must have a kidney transplant. The transplant will take place at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Even with insurance, Travis will have many uninsured, transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, donor expenses and the costly immunosuppressant medications that he will need to take for the rest of his life.

To help offset his uninsured costs, a fundraising campaign in Travis’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF), a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years. All contributions are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Midwest/West Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
