Valentin Cabrera

At the young age of 15, Valentin was thrown into the responsibilities of adulthood after his father passed away. The family joined together and a few more siblings jumped in to help provide for the family before maturing into adulthood. For about 57 years, Valentin worked tirelessly in construction to keep food on the table and provide for the needs of his family. He has such a big heart and loves to spend time with his family and make the little ones laugh. At the age of 71 he was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis, a prognosis that still has no cure. Valentin has a big heart and the mind of warrior but a body that’s trying to shut down as he faces the biggest challenge he has ever faced.

The lung transplant will require a 4 month recovery stay near the hospital in Houston, 6 hours away from home. Valentin and his wife will need to pay for temporary lodging during the surgery and recovery period but lodging and transportation to and from the hospital is not covered by insurance. There are many other medical expenses that might not be paid by insurance – the anti-rejection medication itself will cost more than their monthly fixed income combined. So, the family has chosen a fundraiser through Help Hope Live to help pay for all these upcoming expenses to provide a safe channel for anyone to donate safely and have peace of mind knowing all donations will go towards any related medical expenses not covered by insurance. A la edad de quince años Valentin tuvo que crecer rápididamente después del fallecimiento de su padre. Él y sus hermanos empezaron a trabajar jóvenes para ayudar a la familia. Desde entonces no ha parado. A sus 57 años el ha trabajado en construcción para proveer a su familia. A los 71 años fue diagnosticado con Fibrosis pulmonar que ha afectado mucho su cuerpo.
