Vickie Needs Our Help.

Vickie Davis is a 55-year-old woman who suffers from End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). She is currently undergoing dialysis three times a week and has been told that her only chance at a healthy life will be a kidney transplant – something that will likely take place in the next two/three years.

Vickie grew up in Staunton, VA, which was settled in 1732 by John Lewis and is known as the birthplace of Woodrow Wilson, the American Shakespeare Center, and the country music group, The Statler Brothers. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1979, and has been employed by Rahe, Inc. since 1980 — currently assistant manager at one of their local restaurants. Vickie is active in her church, Cherryvale United Methodist, attending Sunday school and church, along with assisting with their fellowship meals as her work schedule allows.

Her kidney transplant will be a life-saving, and if all goes well, Vickie will no longer need dialysis. But even with insurance she will have many uncovered transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, travel to and from the University of Virginia Medical Center and the costly anti-rejection medications that she will need to take for the rest of her life.

To help offset such expenses, a fundraising campaign in Vickie’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the South-Atlantic Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hopes Live for transplant-related expenses only.
