Wesley Schmidt

Wesley Schmidt is a 40-year-old man from St. Marys, PA, who is in need of a liver transplant and needs your help to make it happen. Transplants are life saving but very expensive.

Eleven years ago, Wesley was diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), a rare disease which destroys the bile ducts in his liver. The only cure for PSC is a liver transplant, which must come from a living donor.

As his disease progresses, Wesley becomes more and more housebound due to the fatigue, jaundice and itching the disease causes. He wants to be able to be out and about, seeing the sights and having fun without tiring so quickly. A new liver is his only chance to survive and to return to good health.

We are actively searching for an angel who will donate part of their liver to Wesley. The cost of the donor search and all aspects of a life saving liver transplant are huge. There are many expenses not covered by insurance including travel, food, lodging, anti-rejection medication co-pays, rehab and much more, which are adding up to more than Wesley’s family can handle alone.

To help offset such expenses, a fundraising campaign in Wesley’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Mid-Atlantic Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only.
