Seth Green

I am writing to you in a time of need for my brother, Seth Green. As many of you know, Seth sustained a life-changing spinal cord injury on July 16, 2016 while swimming with his two sons, Waylon and Clinton, ages 4 and 5. He dove into the pool and hit his head, fracturing vertebrae in his back and neck leaving him paralyzed from the chest down. Seth is the friend and neighbor that people call when they need help because he will be there for you no matter what – and he can fix just about anything or any problem. Now Seth needs everyone’s help. I am calling on family, friends, and communities to enable Seth to make the fullest recovery possible.

Seth has always been one to take care of other people. When he was just a teenager he took his first job installing alarms because he felt responsible for providing for his family after his father’s death. Since then, Seth has continued to rely on his physical abilities to put food on the table for his own family. Although there is no way to adequately portray his character with words, he is loyal, honest, generous, determined, caring, funny, diligent, hard-working, and strong (inside & out). On any given Sunday, you can find him standing tall in church, playing with his sons, reconstructing a house, helping people fix broken vehicles, getting their trucks unstuck, moving someone out of or into a new home, or eating his mother’s biscuits with tomato gravy. Seth is truly a one of a kind human being; the world needs more people like him. Most of all, his wife and children need him.

Recovering from a spinal cord injury takes strong commitment, patience, and money. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, the top rehabilitation centers in the United States are very expensive and do not accept his insurance. We need to raise approximately $250,000 within a short amount of time to move Seth to where he can to get the treatment he needs to make the fullest recovery possible.

To help Seth return to an active and independent life, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Southeast Spinal Cord Injury Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for injury related expenses only. Seth will do his part, that is sure, but his part is only part of the equation. Let’s do ours. Together we can give Seth the tools he needs to do the hard work of recovery while we enjoy witnessing the beauty of his success. Please dig down deep and give with all of you hearts – because that is what Seth would do.
