Winston Wilson

Winston Wilson is only 59 years-old and he is suffering from end-stage-renal-disease or kidney failure. Winston was born with a condition of his kidneys known as polycystic kidney disease, or PKD. PKD is an inherited disorder in which clusters of cysts develop within the kidneys, and can grow very large. The disease causes a variety of serious complications, including high blood pressure and kidney failure. Over the years, Winston’s condition has progressed, and he now needs a lifesaving kidney transplant. Without a kidney transplant, his kidneys will continue to fail and Winston’s time will quickly run out.

Winston is a native of Hartford Connecticut, and a 1976 graduate of the Loomis Chaffee preparatory school. He now lives in Columbia, South Carolina. He has been married to his loving and supportive wife of fourteen years, Audrey Keith-Wilson. Winston enjoys cooking, grilling and entertaining family and friends. His hobbies include keeping computers running at optimum processing speeds, landscaping and gardening.

Winston earned an Associate’s Degree in Computer Technology in 1995 and transferred to Grand Canyon University where he graduated with a BS in Applied Management (with honors). Companies he worked for include Home Depot, Belk’s, Wal-Mart, Sprint, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Policy Management Systems, and Time Warner Cable TV. Winston has also volunteered his time at various hospital support roles, and one day hopes to earn a Master’s of Business Administration degree with emphasis in Health Care Systems Management. However, Winston’s goals are on hold until her receives the gift of life through a lifesaving kidney transplant, and he desperately needs your help!

While Winston undergoes extensive medical testing to be actively listed at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), he continues to face out-of-pocket medical expenses related to his condition. Co-pays and deductibles, caregiver fees, insurance premiums, medical appointments, lab costs, travel and lodging fees continue to rise. He will also be required to take costly post-transplant medications after transplant, for the rest of this life. These expenses are adding up and Winston cannot do it alone.
