It is with great sadness we report that Jelena Bozic Skinner passed away on July 13, 2026. Family and friends have been working with Help Hope Live to raise money to help finance uninsured medical expenses associated with her catastrophic injury. 

In loving memory of Jelena, Help Hope Live will continue to accept charitable donations to help defray uninsured costs that were incurred. Jelena’s family had chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because the nonprofit organization provides both tax-deductibility to the full extent allowed by law and fiscal accountability to contributors. Donors can be sure that charitable contributions will be used only to pay or reimburse medically related and funeral expenses.

# Help Support Jelena’s Ongoing Medical Care

On May 2, 2025, our lives changed forever.

My wife, Jelena and son Leon were involved in a devastating car accident that left her with a severe traumatic brain injury. Since that day, she has remained in a coma, fighting a battle that none of us could have imagined.Leon has recovered very well and does not require long term treatment.

In the first few months following the accident, Jelena showed signs of improvement that gave us hope. Every small movement, every response, and every positive update felt like a victory. Unfortunately, her progress eventually slowed, and for many months now she has not shown any significant improvement.

Today, more than a year later, Jelena continues to require around-the-clock medical care. While she remains with us, her condition is complex and her future remains uncertain. Despite the challenges, we continue to hope, pray, and provide her with the best care possible.

The financial burden of long-term medical treatment, specialized care, transportation and everyday expenses has become overwhelming for our family. As we continue this journey, we are asking for help from friends, family, and compassionate strangers who are willing to stand with us during this difficult time.
