Jonathan Hynes

Family and friends of Jonathan Hynes are raising support after he survived a catastrophic boating accident. Jonathan suffered severe head trauma, with multiple skull fractures and internal bleeding, and had to undergo a three hour emergency surgery to alleviate pressure on his brain and eyes and repair his skull.

Due to the need for specialized neurological care, he was medflighted via helicopter from a hospital in Iowa to South Dakota. Since then, Jonathan has been in the ICU following surgery in stable condition.

As Jonathan continues to fight through recovery, this fundraiser will help ease the burden of hospital bills and other medical assistance he will need once he can return home to Nebraska and continue care.

Jonathan is 21 years old and graduated from UNL in May of 2026 with a degree in Environmental Science and is still in the process of securing full-time employment. Because of this and due to the loss of parental insurance coverage when his father died, he is currently uninsured, and the burden of current and expected medical expenses is immense as he navigates this new reality.

Jonathan has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live, a registered 501c3, in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.
