Jonathan Victor Williams

Jon — known to many as “Shade” — is a 53-year-old husband and father. On September 1, 2024, he suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed on his left side. He’s been in therapy, but recovery is a years-long journey with significant out-of-pocket costs ahead.

For years, Jon worked at Advance Auto Parts — and if you ever came in while he was there, you probably remember him. He wasn’t just doing a job. He was the guy who took extra time to help you figure out what was actually wrong with your car, explained it in a way that made sense, and had you laughing before you walked out the door.

That’s just who Jon is. Whether he was stopping to help someone stranded on the side of the road or quietly looking for his “good deed for the day,” taking care of people has always come naturally to him. He’s the kind of person who makes everyone around him feel a little more at ease — always talking, always joking, always bringing the energy.

This has been a hard change for someone who was always on the move and always putting others first. Our hope is to give him some of that independence and connection back.

Jon’s family is raising funds through Help Hope Live to purchase a wheelchair-accessible vehicle and make necessary home modifications. Donations are tax deductible and go entirely toward medical and related expenses.
