My Story

As many of my friends already know, last summer I received the life-altering news that I need a liver transplant.

This has been an incredibly stressful, terrifying, and overwhelming experience—not only emotionally and physically, but financially as well. I am no longer able to work, which has been especially difficult because I absolutely love my work as an addiction counselor. Helping others and giving back has always been deeply important to me, especially because of my own history. It has been a privilege to be there for people when they need someone most.

Although this journey has taken so much from me, it has also given me more precious time with my two youngest children, Cay, who is 13, and Tori, who is 12. One of the best things that has come from all of this is being able to I swim and play in the pool with them and their friends. I also try to be invoved with their schools in every wayc to build memories.. I am incredibly grateful for that time, especially because I don’t know what the future holds.

Financially, though, our family has been devastated. We are facing expenses we were never prepared for, and I have reached a point where I need to put my pride aside and ask for help.
