Keaghlan Strauss

Hi, I’m Keaghlan. I’m 39 years old, a full-time worker, an avid gamer, a proud plant collector (despite the occasional plant deciding it’s had enough of me), a cat parent, and, most importantly, the mom of an amazing 8-year-old son.

I’ve been living with transverse myelitis since I was 10 years old. For nearly three decades, it’s been part of my life. It has taught me resilience, patience, and how to laugh when life throws curveballs—because sometimes that’s all you can do.

Recently, life decided one curveball wasn’t enough, and I was diagnosed with a renal mass. As my doctors work to determine the next steps, I’m facing more appointments, testing, treatments, and uncertainty than I ever expected.

I’ve always been someone who keeps moving forward. Between work, cheering from the sidelines at soccer games, trying to keep my ever-growing collection of plants alive, and squeezing in some video games whenever I can, I do my best to make the most of every day. My son is my biggest motivation, and I want nothing more than to continue being the mom he deserves.

Unfortunately, determination doesn’t pay medical bills.

Living with a chronic illness has meant years of medical expenses, and this new diagnosis has added even more costs. Between specialists, imaging, procedures, medications, travel, and the possibility of future treatment, the financial burden is becoming overwhelming.

I’m asking for help so I can focus on what matters most—my health and my family—instead of constantly worrying about how to pay for the care I need.
