Hi there, friends. My name is Kylie, and I am a 35-year-old girl living in Northeast Indiana. I enjoy my life spending time with my partners, cooking and baking delicious treats, discovering new restaurants, having fun with my friends, and visiting farmer’s markets, among other things. One aspect that sets me apart from others is that I am an ambulatory wheelchair user, meaning I use a wheelchair for mobility, although there are times when I can walk normally. I also manage some psychiatric conditions that require me to live life in a somewhat strategic manner.

In 2023, I was involved in a serious car accident that resulted in a significant back injury. As a result, there are days when my legs don’t function properly (I think we’ve all had days like that, right? 🤣😂), and without my wheelchair, I wouldn’t be able to get around easily.

I strive to live as normally as possible despite these challenges. I am fortunate to have two amazing partners who support me immensely, but sometimes I wish for more independence. Combining my mobility and psychiatric issues, I’ve decided that the most practical solution is to pursue a service dog to assist me. Both my therapist and doctor support this plan, but I could use some help along the way.

I am exploring owner training for a service dog to perform tasks such as deep pressure therapy during psychiatric episodes, assistance with mobility tasks like activating access buttons, providing stability during transfers, and retrieving items. Having a service dog would greatly enhance my quality of life on days when my conditions are more challenging.

The funds raised through this campaign would enable me to purchase a healthy dog, raise it, and provide it with comprehensive training to ensure it is well-equipped to assist me effectively.
