Family and friends of Lillian Martinez are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a transplant. Lillian Martinez, the matriarch and heart of our family, has spent her life putting others first and devoting herself to her faith, family, and community. Shortly after retiring, she began facing severe health obstacles from Cirrhosis due to a fatty liver, causing extreme exhaustion and frequent hospital visits. Over the past year, her illness has progressed significantly, resulting in daily complications. Today, she is fighting the greatest battle of her life and needs a liver transplant .Her medical team at Porter Advent Hospital has made it clear that a liver transplant is her only option for achieving a long, healthy future. Although this procedure brings immense hope, the path toward recovery will be demanding, lengthy, and intense. The financial burden associated with a liver transplant is overwhelming, even with insurance coverage. Lillian and our family are facing substantial out-of-pocket medical costs that fall outside of insurance protection, such as: Required lifelong immunosuppressant and anti-rejection medications, regular travel and lodging near the transplant center for medical care, specialized rehabilitation and post-operative care at home, and daily living costs. Lillian is retired and is on a fixed income.
