Help Lloyd Keep Living the Life He Loves

If you know Lloyd Eldridge, you know that sitting still has never really been his story.

Lloyd is a proud U.S. Air Force veteran, a husband, family man, man of faith, Sunday school teacher, church servant, friend, mentor, traveler, cook, grill master, sports fan, and someone who has spent much of his life showing up for other people.

Service is simply part of who Lloyd is.

You can see it in the way he serves at church. You can see it when he teaches Sunday school. You can see it in the way he checks on family and friends, spends time with the people he loves, shares what he knows, cooks for others, and makes himself available when someone needs him.

And if there is a grill or smoker nearby, there is a good chance Lloyd is somewhere close to it.

Cooking and grilling have always been more than hobbies for him. They are part of how he brings people together.

He loves family gatherings. He loves traveling. He loves spending time with friends. He loves getting out and experiencing life.

And when football season comes around, there is no question where his loyalty lies.

Lloyd is an avid Chicago Bears fan.

These are the things that make Lloyd…Lloyd.

But heart failure has changed the way he is able to live that life.

Today, Lloyd does not have the energy or endurance he once had. Walking or standing for extended periods can be difficult. He is spending much more time at home and is no longer able to simply get up and go wherever he wants.

Visiting family and friends is harder.

Traveling is harder.

Cooking and grilling can be harder.

Participating in the activities he enjoys can be harder.

Even the everyday freedom of being able to leave the house, spend time with the people he loves, and stay active for an extended period is no longer something he can take for granted.

And for someone who has spent so much of his life showing up, that loss of independence has been significant.

But Lloyd’s story is not ending here.

He is now moving through the process toward a heart transplant.

That transplant journey represents far more than a medical procedure.

For Lloyd, it represents hope.

Hope for more energy.

Hope for greater independence.

Hope for more Sunday school lessons.

More time with family.

More visits with friends.

More trips.

More football.

More meals around the table.

More afternoons behind the smoker.

More opportunities to serve.

And more of the life he loves.

As part of this heart-transplant journey, we are working to raise $5,000, primarily to help with the cost of the medications Lloyd will need throughout this process.

That is why this fundraiser matters.

The $5,000 goal is not simply a number on a page.

It is one important step in helping Lloyd continue moving forward toward the transplant and toward the life he wants to reclaim.

Now it is our turn to show up.

Lloyd has spent years serving his country, serving his church, loving his family, encouraging friends, teaching others, and being present when people needed him.

Now Lloyd needs his community.
