Help Loui Continue His Journey Toward Recovery

On June 8, 2026, our lives changed in an instant.

Loui was at work doing what he loves—caring for his patients—when he suddenly suffered a rare and catastrophic high cervical spinal cord injury. Within hours, a dedicated physician who had spent his life caring for others lost the ability to independently move much of his body and became dependent on others for his daily needs.

Loui is deeply passionate about patient care and has dedicated himself not only to his patients, but also to teaching and mentoring internal medicine physicians in residency training.

After months of hospitalization and inpatient spinal cord injury rehabilitation, Loui has begun making meaningful progress. But his journey is only beginning. Recovery from a severe spinal cord injury requires time, intensive rehabilitation, specialized care, and tremendous perseverance.

Despite everything that has happened, Loui remains determined to recover as much function and independence as possible. His dream is to return to medicine—to care for patients again and continue helping train future internal medicine physicians.

For so many years, Loui has been the person others could turn to for help. Today, he is the one who needs our help.
