Lynette Casey

Family and friends of Lynette Casey are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a double lung transplant. Lynette has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

Lynette was diagnosed with interstitial lung disease in March 2009.  After a 6-year battle, she went into remission in 2015.  She was living her best life in Florida being an amazing wife, mom and friend… only to see her lung disease return a few years later and continue to get progressively worse. 

Through it all, she was determined to fight hard and keep working. In January 2025 her health rapidly started to decline. A couple months later, doctors saw a double lung transplant as her best option. As her oxygen needs increased at work, it was then that her employer decided to eliminate her position. 

Lynette was now faced with no income, mounting medical bills, and even more expensive health insurance thru COBRA. 

Lynette and her husband Aaron, who is her primary caregiver, thought that taking their first born son off life support would be the last huge challenge they would face. But then they started the long, difficult, expensive and stressful journey towards lung transplant approval. 

Late in the summer of 2025 Aaron, who has battled leukemia for more than a decade, started chemo treatment. Aaron’s treatment will be through at least fall 2026, necessitating the need for additional caregiver support. The financial and emotional toll cannot be understated. 

Through her wonderful local transplant pulmonologist team it was decided she was indeed a viable candidate for a double lung transplant. But due to some of her intricate medical challenges outside of just her lung disease, she was denied by Advent Health in Orlando, and she was then referred to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. She finally was approved by Mayo Clinic in January 2026. 

While Lynette is grateful for the upcoming opportunity to have the transplant performed by some of the most talented medical staff in the world it does present even more financial and logistical challenges. Due to the extensive follow up required for after-transplant patients, Lynette and Aaron must relocate hours away to Jacksonville for what will be a minimum 4 month stay. 

Lynette recognizes that many people today are asking for help. You can’t scroll for very long without seeing a Go Fund Me for one reason or another. But this charity is different in one big way. It ensures your tax deductible donations are used appropriately. Lynette chose Help Hope Live because they are in control of the funds and only allow disbursements for medical expenses and other necessary living expenses. Lynette won’t be taking your money and using it for a cruise. Even though she could use one if we are being honest!
