Markeith McBride

Markeith is a 53-year-old male who battles Sickle Cell Anemia SC and Kidney Failure. He was in and out of the hospital when he was younger. As a young child, he didn’t understand why he couldn’t go outside and play like the other children. By the time he was 19 years old, he became a diabetic. By having diabetes, it caused his kidneys to fail.  In 2018, Markeith had a seizure from his failing kidneys and he had to go on emergency dialysis and have been on it every since. I was really having a hard time focusing on CKD because I saw my mother, grandmother, grandfather and 2 of my uncles pass away from CKD.

Markeith loves to cook and bake. He loves being around his family. His faith and obedience to God was a huge important part of his moral and values.  He’s very competitive and loves a challenge. Even though battle CKD and SCA, he has the heart of being an interior designer and to decorate. Many people that know Markeith’s passion for cooking keeps him in his happy place. People also know that he loves going to church.

Markeith struggles in the area of being open about CKD. It sometimes takes a hold of him as far the aches and pain, being nauseous and feeling tired from going on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  Sometimes it can be overwhelming. Occasionally, when Markeith goes to the doctor he has to use a wheelchair because of the weakness from dialysis. It can really be hassle, but feels he has to keep fighting for my wife, children and especially his grandchildren.

Markeith is fundraising for the offset the cost of medical bills that he will accumulate, the cost of a donor and their expenses.  Also, to make sure this will be smooth transition for a kidney transplant. I need your help and support much as possible.  If he has to move to get a transplant that will also be costly, he’s willing to do whatever he has to do in order to receive this transplant. This fundraiser would change his life tremendously. It will also help him to understand the value of love and support. Having a transplant would help Markeith get back a portion of his life back far as going to culinary arts, traveling without any problems, spending more time with his wife, children and especially his grandchildren.  It would also help Markeith to conquer some of his passion far as helping greatly in the church without any limitations.

Markeith fundraising goal is between $10,000 to $15,000.
