A New Heart for Christmas!

My brother, Matthew Gross, received the most magical gift for Christmas. My brother received his new heart. On Christmas Eve, 2015, Matthew received the phone call we have been waiting for since April 2014. His transplant was complete on Christmas morning.

Matthew Gross is a 34-year-old man who was born with a congenital heart defect called Transposition of the Great Arteries. He lives in Placerville, CA and graduated from El Dorado High School in 2000.

To help with the financial burden of Matthew’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Heart Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
