Micah Brantley

Micah is a joyful, resilient little girl who has used a wheelchair her entire life. From the very beginning, her journey has looked different than most. She was not expected to live beyond her first week of life, yet she is here, thriving in her own way, full of laughter, curiosity, and light. Over the years, Micah has endured 22 surgeries and countless hospital stays, therapies, and medical appointments. Her life has required strength, patience, and perseverance far beyond her years.

But Micah is so much more than her medical history.

Outside of appointments and procedures, Micah loves movement. She loves the feeling of going somewhere, of riding in the car, of being in motion and taking in the world around her. She enjoys music, being with her siblings, and engaging with her environment in every way she can. People often notice her joy before they notice her wheelchair.

Because of her physical limitations, Micah uses a manual wheelchair and relies entirely on others for mobility. She does not have the ability to use a motorized chair. Right now, she still rides in a rear-facing car seat, not because of her age, but because it has been the safest option due to her inability to maintain consistent head and trunk control. While this has kept her safe, it also means that during travel, Micah faces the back seat, unable to see the world she so deeply loves to experience.

As Micah grows, this temporary solution is no longer sustainable. She is getting bigger and stronger, and she is nearing the physical limits of the car seat. Without a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, her ability to travel safely, comfortably, and with dignity will become even more restricted.

We are fundraising to help cover out-of-pocket medical-related expenses, including the purchase of a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. Having an accessible vehicle will completely change Micah’s daily life. Instead of being limited to medical appointments and therapy sessions, she will be able to explore the world alongside her family. She will be able to look out the window, engage with her surroundings, and experience movement in a way that brings her joy and connection. Most importantly, our family will be able to travel together without constant barriers, limitations, or safety concerns.

This vehicle represents freedom for Micah. Freedom to see more than hospital walls. Freedom to experience parks, family gatherings, road trips, and everyday moments that help shape childhood memories. It shifts her story from one centered on restriction to one filled with possibility.
