Family and friends of Michael Kelley are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a transplant. Michael has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

Our family is facing the biggest challenge we’ve ever experienced. My husband, Michael, has advanced liver disease and is in need of a life-saving liver transplant. Everything changed so quickly, and our focus is now on getting him the medical care he needs while holding onto hope for a healthier future.

Michael is a loving husband and an amazing father to our two sons, Shane and Tyler. They look up to him every day, and our greatest wish is to see him healthy enough to continue making memories with them.

Earlier this year, in January, we reached a dream we had worked so hard for—we bought our family’s home. We have spent months renovating it with the hope of moving in this summer before the boys start school in August. Instead of finishing our home together, our lives have been consumed by a long hospital visit and the uncertainty that comes with waiting for a liver transplant.

Like many people, Michael has made mistakes in his life. Sometimes our choices have consequences that can change everything. But before he was ever diagnosed with advanced liver disease, he had already begun making meaningful changes in his life. He was committed to becoming healthier, making better decisions, and being the husband and father our family deserves. This diagnosis didn’t begin his journey of change—it interrupted it. Every day, he continues to fight with courage, determination, and hope for a second chance.

The emotional and financial burden has become overwhelming. Between medical expenses, medications, lost income, and the costs of maintaining our household while trying to finish our home, we are struggling to keep up.

Asking for help is not something that comes easily, but we know we can’t do this alone. Every donation, no matter the size, will help relieve some of the financial pressure so we can focus on what matters most—Michael’s health, his transplant, and being together as a family.
