Wheelchair Accessible Van for Muhammad Umer Farooq

Muhammad Umer Farooq is a courageous 14-year-old boy from Pennsylvania living with cerebral palsy and other complex medical conditions that significantly affect his mobility and independence. He relies on a wheelchair and attends regular medical appointments, therapies, and school activities.

As Umer has grown older and bigger, transporting him in a regular vehicle has become increasingly difficult and physically demanding. A wheelchair-accessible van would allow him to travel safely while remaining in his wheelchair, reducing the risk of injury and providing greater comfort, dignity, and independence.

Although Medicaid and insurance cover many of Umer’s medical needs, they do not cover the cost of purchasing a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. The cost of a Toyota Sienna Hybrid wheelchair-accessible van and the necessary modifications is approximately $80,000, which is beyond our family’s financial means.
