Campaign Update 💔

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share that our beloved Randall Cantwell passed away peacefully at home on August 12.

After his transplant, we had hoped and prayed that he would finally be on the road to recovery. Unfortunately, his new liver developed complications, and his bile ducts were not functioning properly. He was waiting to be placed back on the transplant list in hopes of receiving another liver when he passed away.

While this is not the outcome any of us prayed for, we are incredibly grateful for everyone who supported him throughout his journey. Every donation, share, message, prayer, and kind word meant more to our family than we can put into words.

Any funds raised will now go toward his funeral and final expenses. We know that many people have already given so generously, and we are truly grateful for anything you are able to contribute or for simply sharing his story.

Randy’s Original Campaign Story

My name is Randall ~ and the issues with my liver that have led me to the urgent need for a Liver Transplant began about four years ago when the doctors found a single HCC tumor (Hepatocellular Carcinoma) in my liver in early 2022 which was then successfully treated with the Y-90 radioembolization procedure in August of 2022.

Then in early 2023 the doctors found a second HCC tumor in my liver which was also successfully treated with the Y-90 radioembolization procedure in November of 2023.

Then in 2024 the doctors found yet a third HCC tumor in my liver which was also successfully treated with the Y-90 radioembolization procedure in October of 2024.

Then, again in July of 2025 the doctors at Mayo Clinic found a fourth HCC tumor in my liver and again this was successfully treated with the Y-90 radioembolization procedure in December of 2025.

However, most recently during a follow up MRI scan this past January of this year 2026 for the HCC tumor that had just been treated in December of 2025 (one month prior) the doctors at Mayo Clinic found not one but two more HCC tumors existing at the same time in two different sections of my liver which I was fortunate enough to have both of these HCC tumors treated at the same time this past March of this year 2026, but not with the Y-90 radioembolization procedure, but instead with the T.A.C.E procedure (Trans-Arterial Radio-Embolization).

The reason the doctors had to switch treatment methods to using the T.A.C.E. procedure (Trans-Arterial Radio-Embolization) instead of the Y-90 radioembolization procedure is because my liver can no longer endure the radiation doses from anymore Y-90 radioembolization treatments after already having had four previous Y-90 radioembolization treatments in the past four years.Now currently, after these multiple treatments of these six HCC tumors in my liver, over this four year time period, I am now unfortunately out of options for any future HCC tumor treatments as my liver is too weak and too decompensated to tolerate any further such treatments which is why I am now in dire need of a Liver Transplant immediately. My case goes before a review board once a week at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville Fl to try and get approved to be listed on the Liver Transplant waiting list – however, I will not be able to get approved to be listed on the Liver Transplant waiting list unless or until the minimum of my Fundraising Goal of $3,500 or more has been fully met. Then once I am on the Liver Transplant waitlist it can still take up to a year or more to receive a Donor Liver.
