Robert Reynolds

For more than 30 years, Robert has been living with a rare genetic condition called alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. For much of that time, he pushed forward quietly—continuing to show up for his family, his church, and his community.

Today, that fight has reached a new level.

Robert is now facing the need for a double lung transplant.

Over the past several months, his condition has worsened. His oxygen needs have increased, and even simple daily activities leave him short of breath. The hobbies he loves—fishing and hunting—are no longer possible, and everyday moments many take for granted have become difficult.

He is currently entering the evaluation process for transplant, with full testing scheduled in August. While the exact timing is uncertain, we know his window for transplant is here, and we need to be ready.

Robert is more than a patient. He is a husband of 29 years, a father of three, and a proud grandfather to two little girls. He has also been a dedicated member of his Catholic church for over 20 years and has faithfully served as both Grand Knight and Deputy Director with the Knights of Columbus. His life has been defined by service, faith, and showing up for others.

Now, he needs others to show up for him.

If approved for transplant, Robert and his eldest daughter will need to temporarily relocate to Durham, North Carolina—over two hours from home—for at least six months. During that time, his daughter will be stepping away from her own family and work to serve as his full-time caregiver.

This journey comes with significant financial strain, including travel, extended lodging, lost income, and the many costs associated with transplant recovery and aftercare.

While we are prepared to do everything we can as a family, we cannot do this alone.

This is already an incredibly emotional season for our family—balancing hope, uncertainty, and the reality of what lies ahead. But we are holding onto faith, and we are believing for more time, more memories, and more moments together.
