Hello my name is Shelley Lynn

This is my story

4 years ago on July 21,2022 I lost both feet below knees due to blood clot. I ended up in hospital for a few weeks then was transferred to rehab. I was let go from my job at target. My roommate/ex husband and caregiver had to take care of me for the past 4 years without being paid.

I have been practicing driving with special hand controls with Driving to independence for couple of weeks.

My roommate takes me to all my appointments

I’ll love to be on my own being independent with no help. Im asking for a huge help funds so I can get a vehicle with all things I needed like hand controls, foldable ramp and all

Im also struggling in my apartment as it’s too small for me to move much. I only have little space to move but not a lot. Kitchen is so small with little space on the counter

The reason why I needed help is to gain my own independence and be able to return to work eventually

My name is Tommy Lynn Jr. I am Shelley’s ex husband and caregiver.

I was in Jackson, MS being trained for semi-truck driver at Total Transportation of Mississippi. I never forget that morning @ 6 am when I got missed call from Shelley and I called back and was shocked that she is in hospital and I knew right away it was very serious. She informed me that she is possible lose her feet. I had to call emergency meeting with my boss and told him I have family emergency. Pack my stuff and went to Lufkin Texas where I temporary had my friend keep my stuff in storage and pack all my stuff. Drove all the way to Fredericksburg, TX to sleep overnight. I woke up early morning and drove all the way to Phoenix. I was driving alone for 25 hours over 1,500 miles to support Shelley.

Since Shelley lost her feet’s, I have been going to hospital everyday from start of visiting hours until end of visiting hours. Been an advocate for Shelley’s rights, researching every night on how I can help build Shelley’s freedom. I have been working with doctors, intrepreters, nurse, and caseworker for Shelley explaining all issues that she went through.

Shelley had moved to rehabalation hospital and I continue to be there everyday in support and encourage her to start her independence.

I have been taking care of Shelley for 4 years without any help or support from anyone. Also unpaid. My back has been sore from transferring her in and out from my suv to her wheelchair.

I have been watching Shelley grow stronger and more independence. I could not be more proud of her. We still need help from others.
