Family and friends of Stephen Faller are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses. Stephen has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

Stephen Faller is a husband, father, chaplain, teacher, writer, and lifelong person with cerebral palsy. He has lived with the effects of cerebral palsy his entire life, including mobility limitations that affect walking, balance, stamina, and the daily work of getting from place to place.

But Stephen is defined by much more than a diagnosis. He has spent his life serving others as a chaplain and educator. He teaches and supervises chaplains, writes about disability, faith, and spiritual care, preaches and speaks in churches, and founded the Institute for Spiritual Midwifery to help people meet crisis, change, grief, and uncertainty with courage and compassion. He is also a father, a husband, a dog owner, a reader, a writer, and someone who still believes that showing up for people matters.

Because of cerebral palsy, transportation is not a small issue in Stephen’s life. A reliable vehicle that can carry his mobility equipment is essential for ordinary family life and for continuing his ministry. Without dependable accessible transportation, simple things become harder: getting to work, visiting churches, teaching, attending family events, traveling safely, and showing up where he is needed. The issue is not convenience. It is access, vocation, family, and independence.

Stephen is fundraising for a reliable accessible family vehicle, likely a minivan equipped to carry the mobility equipment he needs. A suitable vehicle and lift system can cost tens of thousands of dollars, especially when taxes, fees, equipment, and accessibility needs are included. Help Hope Live funds may help with eligible vehicle-related expenses, including a down payment, reimbursement, or approved lump-sum support connected to an accessible vehicle.

This van would make a real difference in Stephen’s daily life. It would help him continue his work as a chaplain educator, teacher, writer, preacher, and spiritual care provider. It would support his family life and reduce the strain of transportation barriers. Most of all, it would help keep Stephen mobile for the life of service to which he has been called.
