Victor Fernando Maqueda

Victor is a 34-year-old husband, father, son, brother, and friend whose life changed dramatically when he was diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). For the past year, he has depended on dialysis treatments to do the work his kidneys can no longer do while waiting for the life-changing call that a donor kidney has become available.

Despite the challenges he faces, Victor continues to be a loving husband and devoted father who puts his family first. He enjoys spending time with his wife and children, creating memories together, and supporting those around him. His strength, faith, and positive attitude have carried him through some of the most difficult moments of this journey.

Living with kidney failure has affected nearly every aspect of Victor’s daily life. He must follow strict dietary and fluid restrictions, attend frequent medical appointments, and navigate the physical and emotional challenges that come with chronic illness. While dialysis is keeping him alive, it is not a cure.

Victor has been approved for a kidney transplant and is currently waiting for the call that could change his life. While a transplant offers hope for a healthier future, it also brings significant financial responsibilities. Transplant-related expenses can include travel, lodging, medical appointments, testing, and lost income during recovery. In addition, transplant recipients must take lifelong anti-rejection medications to help protect their new kidney. These medications can be extremely expensive, and maintaining health insurance coverage is essential to help manage these ongoing medical costs. Even with insurance, out-of-pocket expenses can add up quickly and continue long after the transplant surgery is complete.

Through this fundraising campaign, we hope to ease some of the financial burden associated with Victor’s transplant journey so that our family can focus on his recovery and long-term health. Every donation will help support transplant-related expenses, medication costs, insurance premiums, and other medical needs that arise before and after surgery.

A successful kidney transplant would mean so much more than improved health. It would mean more quality time with family, freedom from dialysis treatments, the ability to enjoy life’s everyday moments, and the opportunity to look toward the future with hope. Most importantly, it would give Victor the chance to continue being present for the people who love him most.
