Yvette Reyes needs your help to get her life back. In 2020, Yvette received news that would change everything: she was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease. It was a diagnosis no one wants to hear, but Yvette didn’t let it define her. She made a decision that day, she would fight. And fight she has.

Since October 19, 2021, Yvette has been on dialysis – three sessions a week, every week, for nearly five years. That’s over 700 treatments. Each session lasts hours, hooked to a machine that does the work her kidneys no longer can. It’s exhausting. It’s painful. It’s relentless. But Yvette shows up, every single time, because she believes in tomorrow.

She didn’t just accept her diagnosis. She got to work. Determined to become a strong candidate for a kidney transplant, Yvette committed herself to a complete lifestyle transformation. She changed the way she eats. She dedicated herself to movement and exercise. And she lost over 200 pounds, a feat that would be extraordinary for anyone, let alone someone managing a chronic, life-altering illness. Let that sink in. Two hundred pounds. While on dialysis. While fighting for her life.

But the road has not been easy. The toll of dialysis, three times a week, plus numerous doctor’s appointments every month has cost Yvette her job. Numerous jobs. The time required for treatment left her unable to maintain employment. The financial burden has been heavy. Medical bills, living expenses, transportation to and from treatment, and the everyday costs of simply surviving have created a strain that no one should face alone, especially not while fighting for their health. And yet, Yvette is still here. Still fighting. Still hopeful.

She is on the transplant waiting list. A new kidney would mean freedom from dialysis. It would mean her body could heal. It would mean she could return to work, to her passions, to the life she’s been working so hard to reclaim. A new kidney would mean a second chance. But getting there takes more than hope. It takes resources. Transplant-related expenses from pre-surgery preparation to post-operative care, medications, and recovery add up quickly. And without a steady income, Yvette cannot do this alone. This is where you come in.
