Angel Becton experienced her first stroke before turning 40. Now 51, she’s endured more medical hardships than many people experience over a lifetime. A shining light of faith to those around her, Angel is now in need of help from the community to fund medical care following the loss of her Medicaid in 2025.
On Sunday, May 3, run or walk for a good cause at the first Jovita Strong 5K event at Tukwila Community Center to benefit the nonprofit Help Hope Live in honor of Jovita McConnell. Jovita experienced a life-altering aneurysm and coma in April 2025. Fundraising efforts will help fuel her ongoing rehabilitation.
Meeting 9-year-old Kaylie Hammond, you may never guess that she’s been fighting complex medical battles throughout her young life. As she brings light to her loved ones, her community is rallying to fund critical medical needs not covered by insurance, including a 12-hour round trip for specialized care.
Gary Bolton has spent the past 16 years living with paralysis and embracing hard work, community, independence, and possibilities. A fundraising campaign in his honor through the national nonprofit Help Hope Live is bringing new possibilities within his reach, including driving, working, and walking again with the help of specialized therapy and equipment.
