Hope Talk: Why Mental Health Matters

Hope Talk: Whole Body Wellness After Paralysis series. Part Two: Why Mental Health Matters with Andy Zimmer (Spinal Cord Injury Outreach Representative) Dr. Stevie Vanausdale (Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Qualified Supervisor, and founder of Arise Wellness) and Erin Field (Disability rights advocate and mental health counseling student)

Healing doesn’t end when the crisis passes — it continues with care, connection, and compassion.

Join us for “Why Mental Health Matters” after a spinal cord injury on Monday, July 27 at 5 p.m. ET, sponsored by United Access.

In this second installment of our Whole Body Wellness After Paralysis Hope Talk series, we will focus on the mental and emotional aspects of life after spinal cord injury.

Meet Our Panelists

We will be joined by Stevie VanAusdale, a licensed mental health professional experienced in disability-related care, alongside two individuals living with paralysis: Andrew Zimmer, Help Hope Live’s SCI Outreach Representative, and Erin Field, disability rights advocate and mental health counseling student.

Together, they will explore the importance of mental wellness, coping strategies, resilience, emotional well-being, and how addressing mental health can support independence, relationships, and overall quality of life. Our speakers will also share personal experiences navigating anxiety, adjustment, and how prioritizing mental health has shaped their recovery journeys.
