Amanda needs your support during her journey for a double lung transplant!

Unfortunately, the chemotherapy that saved Amanda’s life during her battle against leukemia has damaged her lungs. Her lung capacity has diminished so much that she needs a double lung transplant. Amanda was diagnosed in 2017 with a rare lung disease, Pleuroparenchymal Fibroelastosis, PPFE for short. Overtime the disease has resulted in increased fibrosis of the lungs, which has now led to the need of supplemental oxygen. With testing showing the continued steady decline, two new lungs are her only option.

***Lung Transplant Update***

On behalf of Amanda I would like to provide an update regarding Amanda’s Lung Transplant surgery to all of our family, friends, well wishers, and supporters.

Amanda was called to the hospital on Saturday (8/20) for a possible bi-lateral lung surgery at Duke University Hospital. She was a match for the new donor lungs, and very early this morning (8/21) her surgeon called with the news that she successfully made it through surgery!

She is currently in recovery in the Duke Cardiac ICU center. She is breathing on her own with her new lungs; however, it is a very complicated surgery and requires the doctors to find the right balance of treatments to stabilize her which she is currently going through now.

I will do my best to try and keep everyone updated on Amanda’s progress as she recovers.

Our family thanks everyone in advance for thinking of Amanda and our family at this time!
