Eric Palmsteen

Eric’s journey to liver transplant started in early 2026.  At age 52, he wasn’t feeling quite right but had a tough time pointing at what was wrong.  He had little pain but was tired all the time and started to lose what little appetite he had left.  Eric, and his wife, Sydney, decided to take a proactive approach which led them to a liver specialist who gave them the difficult news.  Eric was diagnosed with End Stage Liver Disease in February 2026.  Promptly, Eric was given a referral to Emory Transplant in Atlanta, GA, and put on the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) Transplant List in July 2026.  Eric has incredible family support and an amazing clinical team preparing his body and mind to receive a new liver.  We maintain hope that Eric will get a liver while the rest of his body is healthy enough to receive the organ and recover quickly.  

Unfortunately, even with good insurance and proper financial planning, transplant is expensive. Surgery, ICU, and hospital can cost more than a custom-built home in metro Atlanta.  Under the best of circumstances, post-transplant medications can be more than 20k per year with additional post-transplant care costs rising quickly from any small complication.

Eric and Sydney have partnered with Help Hope Live, which is a non-profit organization to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a transplant.  All donations made are tax-deductible and is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.  All raised funds are held and distributed ONLY for approved medical expenses (that insurance doesn’t cover) related to Eric’s transplant care and costs.  For Eric and his family, the best part of partnering with Help Hope Live is that any funds raised that Eric no longer needs will go to another transplant recipient in the Southeast Transplant Fund.
