Funds Raised Will Help Support Transplant Recipient and Mom Jennifer Alley
Kennesaw, Ga.—On Friday, August 12 and Saturday, August 13, please come out to support and enjoy the display of sale items available at the Alley’s residence at 2790 Revere Main NW (Kennesaw GA, 30144) as they participate in Legacy Park’s annual garage sale. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, you’ll browse through a wide selection of special items—and your purchases will benefit a critical cause. All funds raised from the family’s sale items will go to the national nonprofit Help Hope Live in honor of Jennifer Alley, a Kennesaw wife and mom recovering from a rare and complex multi-organ transplant.
At 40 years old, Jennifer Alley has experienced more health challenges than most people ever face. Jennifer was born with myopathic intestinal pseudo-obstruction, a chronic health condition that makes her intestine unable to push through food. She became fully dependent on IV nutrition as she was unable to digest food. Jennifer spent 8 months on the waiting list for an intestine or “multi-visceral” transplant, which was still considered relatively new to the medical world.
Jennifer received her rare transplant in 2004. “The transplant was successful, and it has given her opportunities beyond her wildest dreams—including a son,” loved ones explained.
But the gift of life comes at a cost.
Jennifer is facing a lifetime of sky-high out-of-pocket medical expenses to sustain her body post-transplant. Even with insurance, she must regularly cover costs including travel to her transplant center, anti-rejection medications that can cost thousands of dollars per month, co-pays, lab fees, and more. She has experienced two multi-month stays in Cleveland for health care over the past two years.
Since her transplant, Jennifer’s loving community has been partnering with the national nonprofit Help Hope Live to engage in fundraising for these essential costs.
