As the leaves change, it’s a natural time to reflect on a year of hope and fundraising milestones—as we look forward to GivingTuesday and the start of the most charitable season of the year.
In this recap, you’ll see where we’ve been lately, get a reminder of our office hours, read voices of hope from the Help Hope Live community, and get a preview of an upcoming free Hope Talk webinar in December.
Our Office Hours
Our summer office hours have ended, which means our updated hours are as follows:
Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET

Beginner’s Guide to Service Dogs
Want to learn more about getting a service dog or how a service dog can help you or someone you love?
Join us on Thursday, December 12 at 3 p.m. ET for a free Hope Talk webinar answering all your questions about service dogs!
We’ll be sharing firsthand insights from the organization Canines for Disabled Kids and a Help Hope Live client family.
In Our Community
Throughout the year, our team members attend as many events and conferences as possible. Each event gives us a rare chance to connect in-person with clients, team members, new faces, industry partners, Ambassadors, and other members of the community.
Hoping to catch Help Hope Live at an event in 2025? Check our Events calendar to confirm if we’re planning to attend. Or send us an email!
Voices of Hope
This fall, we got the chance to interview members of our client community about their experiences with fundraising, community support, hope, and more. Here are some of those stories.
Helen Buttery is the sister and caregiver of Roberta Anderson, who has been living with a life-changing disability since 2021.
Helen’s reflections include experiences that every caregiver can relate to in some way, from processing guilt and grief to finding your way to acceptance, hope, and advocacy.
Jennifer Jenkins has been impacted by paralysis since age 6. She’s experienced the power of rehabilitation, the challenges of being a little different from your peers, and the sense of accomplishment that comes from using your own experience to improve the lives of others as a professional.
You’ll love her insights on navigating life with a disability—plus the story of how her dog Buzzbee became known as the Little Mayor around town.
In August 2020, Susan Fiore had her first direct experience with disabilities or spinal cord injuries when her then 18-year-old son, Ernest Patti, sustained a paralyzing injury at the beach with friends.
She shares her insights on the physical and emotional challenges of SCI parenting, the growth she’s seen in Ernest and her whole family, and how fundraising with Help Hope Live has rallied #TeamErnie to provide life-changing support.
“Look at him now: with his own inner strength, he has overcome his fear.”
Jena Cavanagh has been living with paralysis since a March 2023 back surgery. She spent decades supporting the disability community in her career, but she still felt unprepared for the battle to get her basic needs covered by insurance.
“We had no idea of the fighting and advocacy it would take to get insurance to cover my care after SCI.”
Fundraising with Help Hope Live has been a critical part of her journey with over $118,000 raised in her honor so far.
“Asking for help is hard, but people want to help each other—that’s who we are in this world.”
Help Hope Live Executive Director Kelly L Green has a deeply personal connection to our mission. Eighteen years ago, she started fundraising with Help Hope Live when her mom needed $15,000 available to be listed for a kidney transplant.
Hear Kelly tell her story on the Gift of Life podcast with BJ Odom—an opportunity made possible by our client Ambassador Melissa Tuff:
GivingTuesday 2024
GivingTuesday is next month on December 3, 2024!
This is Help Hope Live’s largest giving day of the year. Throughout the day, we cover the credit card fee for all donations made in honor of a client at helphopelive.org.
Don’t miss your chance to participate! Our GivingTuesday Toolkit is your starting point. You’ll find sample social media posts, sharing tips, an email template, and more.
Don’t forget to request your custom GivingTuesday materials from your client Services Coordinator before the November 18 deadline.
Turning colors and falling leaves are a reminder to all of us that change and loss are an inescapable part of our lives—but they also remind us that renewal and hope never fade away.
Even in the midst of change, we hope you can find your own reasons to stay strong, kind, and courageous.
As always, we will be here to offer our support and guidance. Let us know how we can help.
