Dudley Edmondson, a friend to so many people, has kidney failure and is now in need of a kidney transplant. About ten years ago Dudley was diagnosed with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), a debilitating disease that attacks the kidneys. Transplants are life saving but very expensive and Dudley needs help from his family, friends and community to make it happen.
Dudley is a Videographer/Author and an extremely active person, biking, running, and swimming. He is also a tireless volunteer donating his time to local and national youth programs. While he is doing his best to maintain these activities, he increasingly has periods of fatigue, nausea and cognitive issues. Dudley and his wife Nancy are very hopeful for their future, once his transplant is completed at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
While health care insurance is helpful, there are numerous costs associated with transplantation not covered by insurance. Dudley and Nancy will have travel costs, living expenses away from home around the time of transplant, potential living donor expenses, and loss of income, co pays, and medication costs which may be thousands of dollars.
Dudley has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for donors. Donors can be sure that funds donated will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Donate Now button.

Thank you for your support and generosity.
Gratefully,

Hello EveryoneAs you know my transplant 8 years ago was successful. I've been very pleased with the way I have been able to continue my active life and participate in the lives of family and friends.Recently however my transplanted kidney developed cancer in the form of 3 tumors in various areas of the kidney. I was given options for treatment. I chose something called an ablation procedure. In that surgery they freeze the cancer tumor which kills it with ice on contact. I am in recovery at the moment but progress well with little pain.Thank you everyone for your donation over the years. They have been very helpful in allowing me to continue living my life without costly medical bills. I can't thank you enough for your generosity.Dudley
Well as some of you may know I've had my surgery, and doing well in my recovery. For the first time in years I feel almost normal if there is such a thing. Because I was pretty healthy to start and got a living kidney donation from a dear friend, my recovery has been exceptional.
Just the same it has not been easy. Numerous follow up appointments, testing, taking hundreds (100's) of pills of prescription medications a month are my new normal.
I know I still have a ways to go and 2017 will be the real test for our medical finances. With the operation and testing we maxed out our medical and have seen no medical bills for months now.
2017 we will be relying heavily on the help hope live funds, medicare and our insurance plan because those bills will be coming again. Because of your generosity I feel pretty good about the coming years and just want to thank you for coming to our aid in our time of need
Happy New Year
The Edmondson's
Maybe by now many of you know I had a successful Kidney Transplant on March 3rd 2016. I could not have done it without your support and generous donations. I am recovering well at a transplant house near Mayo Clinic in Rochester Mn. I hope to be home soon and return to live with my new kidney, which has given me a new lease on life.
Thank you Everyone
I have completed all of my preliminary testing and have been given the green light by both Mayo Clinic and my insurance provider to proceed with the transplant surgery. My hope is that my first donor will also be given the green light later this month and the surgery can be scheduled soon
Thanks so much to everyone for their contributions. I still have 4 strong organ donor candidates waiting for results from the Mayo Clinic.
With a lot of luck one of them will be approved before the remaining 11% of my kidney function I have left runs out. I am in it to win it
This afternoon I got the call from the Mayo Clinic that I am officially and transplant candidate, which means I am on the national transplant list and they can start screening my possible donors
thanks everyone
My first visit to the Mayo Clinic with be Tuesday December 15th for the final screening exam before scheduling the surgery. Wish me luck

Dudley, I met you at The Many Faces of Conservation held at the Black Swamp Bird observatory in the Toledo Metroparks, September 26. 2009. I was just beginning many phases of outdoor adventures at that time, and I continue to do so these subsequent years. You encouraged me at that time, and now I want to encourage you at this stage with a donation and prayers for you and Nancy as you take this journey for better health. Love and Prayers.

You knucklehead! These aren't the circumstances under which I wanted to get back in touch after so many years, but I'm very grateful to Mean Ol' Eckert ;) for letting me know that you've hit a temporary roadblock. When you're back to 100% I'm coming up there and we're gonna get all the old gang together and rehash our glory days, exaggerations and all. Until then, I know the good karma you've been building up through all the kindness you've given away to so many for so many years will come back to you many fold. I'm looking forward to reconnecting over a hot bowl of French onion soup at Sir Ben's! God speed, my friend.
