HI! Diana is doing quite good, although she did have a flare-up of the shingles, which was not fun! But she is doing better. They have lots of doctor appointments and are still trying to get her sugar down so she can go on her insulin pump. The anti-rejection meds she will take for the rest of her life make her sugar go up so Paul has to monitor it very carefully. She is not back to work yet but eager to be! Paul may join her when she feels up to it but for now, they are both very busy trying to go to all the doctor appointments and keep everything balanced so she can get completely well. THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRAYERS!

Diana is doing great and is ready for visitors! She is off the wound vac and eating totally by mouth!! MIRACLE!!!! Come by and say Hi at the Life Care Center of Treasure Valley, 502 W. Kimball, just off Emerald between Maple Grove and Mitchell, in Boise. She is in Room 119.
PRAISE THE LORD FOR ANSWERED PRAYER!
DIANA IS HERE IN BOISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They just arrived at a nursing/rehab facility in Boise today around 1 pm by van from SLC! But Diana is VERY TIRED so they are asking us to hold off giving the place of where she is staying until she is rested up from the long ride here, not to mention all the drama with the insurance company over how to get her here etc etc! I know we wanted to have a BIG PARTY AND CELEBRATE BUT HANG IN THERE AND WE WILL HAVE A BIG BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR HER ASAP! BUT we have to be VERY CAREFUL not to give her any germs, which means masks and gloves until she is a lot stronger! Maybe we'll have a contest to see who can decorate the best mask to wear to see her! :)
PAUL AND DIANA THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF THEIR HEARTS FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS, CARDS, CALLS AND GIFTS ESPECIALLY OVER THE LAST 3 MONTHS! THEY COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT ALL OF YOU AND THEIR PRECIOUS LORD!
PLEASE PRAY FOR DIANA AND PAUL! Diana is doing so good but they found out the reason she is having such acid reflux problems is she has an ulcer! And they are having problems getting the insurance company to agree to send her back to Meridian and pay for a rehab facility. And trouble finding a home health person to be able to handle the wound vac, stomach feeding, monitor her sugar, pacemaker etc etc. The insurance company wants to keep her in SLC in case she has to go back in the hospital but she has an excellent kidney Doctor here in Meridian who should be able to handle whatever complications may come up. PLEASE PRAY FOR WISDOM FOR THE INSURANCE CO AND DOCTORS AND PATIENCE AND PEACE FOR DIANA AND PAUL AND THEIR FAMILIES! THEY DESPERATELY WANT TO COME HOME!!
The pic is Diana and Paul and Dennis Mansfield (Susan) who just visited them yesterday. That was a huge encouragement to them!
DIANA IS COMING HOME!!!! PRAISE THE LORD!! She is now eating food by mouth as well as the stomach feeding and has gained some weight and is getting around a lot stronger! They are trying to figure out if they need to bring her to Meridian by ambulance just in case and how the insurance will handle that between the two states etc etc. They have a rehab facility lined up in Meridian for her to go to first to make sure she is stable enough to go home. They don't want any relapses or infections that will move her backward! She is still having a LOT OF PROBLEM WITH HEARTBURN AND ACID REFLUX and just last night, woke up with dry heaves and accidentally disconnected her stomach feeding tube so had a bad night! The vomiting REALLY aggravates the acid in her throat and mouth so pray they will be able to get that problem under control! Her wound is healing up really well so they should be able to disconnect the wound vac soon. www.youtube.com
Unfortunately, she can't have a big welcome home party because the trip here and moving into a new facility will probably exhaust her and she always has to be careful of getting any more infections that could put her back in the hospital so Paul is suggesting that we give her and the family some time the first week to be together and they will let us know when she's ready for all of us to bombard her! :) She will always be very susceptible to infection so we will probably have to wear masks and gloves at least for awhile until she is 100% well and stronger to be able to fight the germs we will be bringing with us! Hopefully, we will be able to have a BIG BELATED BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR HER SOON!
Paul and Diana THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH FOR YOUR PRAYERS, CARDS, VISITS, CALLS AND LOVE!! The Lord and all of you have sustained them over this long, long recovery and they are beside themselves with excitement to get back to Meridian!!!
Diana moved into one rehab center last week and they moved her to a different one this week. She is having trouble getting food down where it's supposed to go. She threw up all the food that they have been trying to get down the stomach feeding tube on Tuesday and with all that acid coming up, now she can hardly talk! They are doing another throat study to see what the problem is. Pray that she will be able to get some nutrition into her body somehow so hopefully she can come back to Boise!. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS!
PLEASE PRAY that Diana won't throw up the liquid food they are putting into her stomach feeder! Her poor little stomach hasn't had much in it for a month and it doesn't hardly know what to do with it! Pray that her body would digest and absorb the liquid quickly so she doesn't get nauseous and vomit or have diarrhea. THANK YOU!!!!

Diana is being moved to a rehab facility near Salt Lake City today! YEAH! THANK YOU LORD!! Paul will be able to stay at the Hospital's Patient and Family Housing in SLC, about 1/2 hr away from the rehab facility FOR FREE! :) I stayed there and it is very nice and the staff are awesome! He will have a stove and fridge etc. although so he can make himself breakfast and dinner, although he may eat lunch at the rehab facility or at a restaurant. He may have to buy new clothes for Diana since she has lost so much weight. She will keep the stomach feeding tube in and wound vac on her kidney incision but work on her swallowing so hopefully she can eat by mouth before she comes back home. PLEASE PRAY the transition will go smoothly and that she will feel comfortable at her new location. AND that she will be able to swallow soon! AND that she won't catch anything else! AND that the pain in her ear from the shingles will subside. THANK YOU!!!! I will send the new address as soon as Paul sends it to me. They are so looking forward to getting back to Boise as soon as possible!!
Diana is doing so much better! This picture is with her dear friend Teri who came to visit Friday. Looks like the bacteria is gone and she is getting strength from the stomach feeding. She is doing swallowing exercises so she can start eating by mouth soon hopefully. Right now she can only take sips of water and some ice chips. She will be in the hospital until at least sometime this week.
DIANA IS OUT OF ICU! PRAISE GOD! She is feeling better, had a shower, ate a few bites of jello and a little smoothie as well as the nutrition from the feeding tube. So far, all has stayed down. THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!!! Remember, call, text or visit!
Last night, Diana was throwing up the food that they are feeding directly into her stomach. They are really having a hard time! One thing after the other! PLEASE CALL, TEXT, AND VISIT IF YOU CAN! (Paul: 208-995-7812) There is a place that is only $50/night near the airport (you can take the shuttle from the airport to: University Hospital Patient and family Housing, 2080 W. OR: If you can afford $96/night, there is a very nice facility right by the hospital! University Guest House Hotel: 801-587-1000 or Hospital: 801-587-8230.
PRAY! PRAY! PRAY!
Beautiful Diana and her precious daughter-in-law Sarah, married to Brent, Paul's son! Taken just now in ICU! Wednesday, June 1, 1:30 p.m.
"Surgery went well now focus on the resting and recovery... let the healing begin!" says Sarah Arent, Paul's daughter. THANKS FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!
the latest on Diana from Paul's daughter Sarah as of Tues 1 p.m.:
The doctors are going to put a pacemaker in Diana tonight around 4 or 5 p.m.because she keeps "flat lining." PLEASE PRAY!
I just got a call from a friend visiting Diana. Paul says the doctors think that the heart problems and seizures might be a reaction to a new med they gave her for a bacteria infection she has battled for a couple weeks. They took her off that and are hoping that in the next 24 hrs, the seizures and heart problems will stop. She is talking and in good spirits but I think they will keep her in ICU to monitor her closely.
Feel free to call Paul at 208-995-7812. They need our prayers and encouragement! Paul has stayed in the hospital with Diana every night and hasn't gotten much sleep! I don't know how he is keeping going! But he has heart problems so please pray for him as well! This is all so stressful and he has had to get after the hospital staff a number of times to just do their job! I know he felt bad doing it but if he wasn't there with her every minute, I don't know if Diana would still be alive!
I'm glad she is in ICU because she will get better care there. Thanks so much for your prayers!!!
DIANA IS IN ICU! PLEASE PRAY!! She started having seizures on Saturday and the neurologist thinks the shingles in her ear might be causing her heart to stop! They may have to put in a pacemaker! PLEASE PRAY!!!
YEAH! They put the stomach feeding thingy in this morning and that will enable Diana to get nutrition and give her throat a rest! Thanks so much for your prayers and kind messages! I printed them off and will read them all to Diana today! PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING!!
Flowers can be sent to:
Diana Arent,
Univ of Utah Hospital, 5th floor,
50 N Medical Drive, Salt Lake City, UT 84132)
DO NOT SEND ANYTHING TO THE S. JORDAN ADDRESS! THEY ARE NOT THERE ANYMORE.
Diana had a very painful feeding tube put from her nose to her stomach yesterday and after gagging on it all night and today, they decided to take that out and put in a stomach feeding thingy tomorrow. Please pray that she and Paul will be able to get some rest tonight (last nite was horrible!) and they will do the surgery as soon as possible tomorrow. She will be in the hospital at least until next Tuesday then they may send her to a nursing facility until she can come home to Boise. They smile for the camera but are so weary and want to come home.
Pic taken 5/23/16: Diana got shingles in her ear and it is healing but there is still nerve pain so sweet husband of the year Paul put the heating pad next to her ear and then wrapped the blanket around it so it stay in place while she slept! WHAT A GUY! After that, they started giving her lydocain with some tape by her ear and neck that kind of draws the medicine to where the tape is and that really helped! Then the food she was trying to eat wouldn't go down her throat and started going into her lungs so they put in a feeding tube in her nose yesterday. She didn't have a good night and still has all the coughing and congestion so today they are thinking about taking the feeding tube out of her nose and putting a device in her stomach to feed her. If this works, they might transfer her to a nursing facility nearby because her kidney is doing great! PLEASE PRAY for them! This is very trying on both of them! And CALL! they need to know they are not alone and that you are all praying for them! - Ruthanne Price - and come and visit if you can but call first to see where she is that day. :)
PLEASE PRAY!! Diana is back in the hospital for the 3rd time since the transplant and is in a lot of pain in her ear from having shingles in her ear! It is healing but the nerve pain is still there. They think she may have pneumonia as well, so they are taking x-rays to see how her lungs look. Please pray that she will be able to go back to the place she is staying 30 miles from the hospital today and come home to Meridian soon! They are both very weary!
Diana has been re-admitted to the hospital twice after the transplant for several different complications, including shingles and infection in her incision. She is now back at Vanessa's in S. Jordan, about 30 miles from the hospital. PLEASE PRAY she will have no further complications and can go back to Boise asap! THANK YOU!
Diana had to have more surgery to remove some blood clots from the "vessel" they had put in her left arm for the dialysis but she is out of surgery and hungry and doing good. Keep those prayers coming! THANKS!!!
URGENT PRAYER NEEDED FOR DIANA! After going in the hospital last Monday (May 2) because her incision wasn't draining properly, she got out Wednesday and felt a lot better but GOT SHINGLES THIS LAST MONDAY (May 9) and has been in the hospital all week! SHE HAS BEEN MISERABLE!!! It was in her throat and ear and she couldn't eat or hardly drink and the pain was AWFUL! They finally found out that it was shingles and finally found an antibiotic and pain meds that attacked it and she is now FINALLY feeling better. She doesn't sound that good on the phone but assured me that she was feeling ok to talk. PLEASE PRAY THAT SHE WILL RECOVER QUICKLY AND BE ABLE TO GO TO THE HOME SHE IS STAYING AT NEARBY. Paul has also been staying in the hospital all week with her so they both want to get out so they can get better rest and be able to come back to Boise this month! Feel free to call Diana at 208-850-8893 or Paul at 208-995-7812. Paul keeps Diana's phone if she is sleeping so don't let that hold you back! THEY LOVE TO HEAR FROM PEOPLE!!
ALSO PLEASE PRAY FOR VANESSA! She is the dear sweet lady who is a dear friend of Sharon's, the kidney donor. She has been hosting Diana and Paul at her house since a week before the transplant and hosted Sharon and all of us off and on! She just had gall bladder surgery and is scheduled for back surgery June 13! She has a lot of stomach problems and back pain and will have to have another surgery after that! She and her husband James have such servant's hearts and made all of us welcome and at home in their home! Pray that she will have some relief from all her health problems!
And please continue to pray for Sharon, the kidney donor! This was major surgery for her and she is still recuperating!
THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRAYERS! THEY ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
DIANA IS FEELING MUCH BETTER TODAY! THANKS SO MUCH FOR PRAYING!!! Her pain is under control and she hopes to leave the hospital tomorrow to go back to the house she is staying at this month in Salt Lake City area. Her daugher-in-law Sarah surprised her by showing up unexpectedly from Boise today! It really encouraged Diana and Paul! thanks again for your prayers!
PLEASE PRAY! DIANA IS BACK IN THE HOSPITAL! She got an infection and was bleeding from her incision so they put her back on antibiotics and more pain meds and took some of the staples out to see what is causing the infection. Paul will stay in her room until she goes back to the place she is staying until she gets cleared to come back to Boise. Feel free to call Paul at 208-995-7812. They need your prayers and encouragement! THANK YOU!!!!
Sharon, who donated her kidney to Diana, and Diana with the clown noses her friend Lauren sent for them! Sharon was being very brave because she was not feeling good at all when this picture was taken! She is doing a little better now.
Diana had her first post-op appt with the clinic today and she is doing great! Her sugar is a little high but that is normal with a kidney transplant. The awesome people at the Hospital are helping Paul monitor her sugar very closely because the prednisone she has to take so her body doesn't reject the kidney causes that. They will lower her prednisone every day until she is at the lowest dose possible, as long as her body continues to love on Sharon's kidney. :) And they got from where they are staying (1/2 hr from hospital in non-rush hour traffic) to the hospital today and back with no accidents! Yeah! Thanks so much for your prayers!! Please continue to pray that Sharon will heal quickly and be able to fly out Friday for home! They are both staying with Vanessa, a dear friend of Sharon.
PRAISE THE LORD! THE TRANSPLANT IS A SUCCESS! Both Diana and Sharon, the donor, are doing great! Diana will probably leave the hospital today (4/22) and stay with a friend of Sharon's for a month so she can be close to the hospital for tests, check-ups, and any problems. She will be getting labs done twice a week so they can monitor EVERYTHING! And I do mean EVERYTHING! Sharon will probably leave the hospital on Sunday and stay until Friday and then return to her home. The doctor said her kidney was the best he had ever seen in a donor! They both thank you all for your prayers and donations to help cover their expenses. As you can see, there still is a great need so if you feel led to help, you can do so right here! The doctor said the body can reject a kidney at any point so please continue to pray for both the gals and for Paul as he now is in charge of all Diana's meds including her insulin pump which is very complicated! And pray for Sharon that she will continue to enjoy good health with her one kidney left. THANK YOU!!!!
ONLY ONE MORE DAY UNTIL THE TRANSPLANT ON TUESDAY, APRIL 19TH!!! PLEASE PRAY THAT BOTH DIANA AND SHARON (the donor) STAY HEALTHY AND THAT EVERYTHING GOES WELL!! THANK YOU!!!! Diana is at the University Hospital in Salt Lake City and will be there for a month or more, depending on how everything goes. Paul can stay on a cot in her room but for now, both he and Diana are staying with a friend of Sharon's until Tuesday morning. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO POST MSGS TO DIANA ON THIS WEBSITE until we get a good address to send cards etc. THEY SEND THEIR LOVE AND HUGS AND DEEP APPRECIATION!!!
Here is a link to housing in Salt Lake City that has a shuttle to/from the airport and/or hospital: healthcare.utah.edu
4/11/16: Diana is now on her way to Salt Lake City! She will be at the University of Utah Transplant Hospital at 50 N. Medical Dr, SLC UT 84132. Paul will be staying with a friend of Sharon's (the donor). He can be reached at 208-995-7812. Diana welcomes anyone to come and join her for the surgery or afterward, since she and Paul will be there at least a month if all goes well. they are both so excited that her transplant will be in one week! They thank God for how He has gone ahead and taken care of everything for them and provided for their needs. They praise Him for what He has done and for what He's going to do! They so appreciate and love all their friends and your outpouring of love has touched their hearts deeply! Please pray for a safe trip to SLC April 12th and for all those coming down. Feel feel to call or send texts to Paul (208-995-7812) and post messages to them on the Guest book here! From 4/18, pls come here for updates!
ONLY 19 DAYS TO GO BEFORE THE TRANSPLANT ON APRIL 19TH!!!! PLEASE PRAY FOR DIANA TO STAY WELL AND THAT EVERYTHING WOULD GO SMOOTHLY AND SUCCESSFULLY! AND THAT THE $10,000 DIANA NEEDS FOR HER MEDICAL EXPENSES WILL COME IN!! THANK YOU!
Paul's son Brent and his wife Sarah and their two kids Maddie and Trenton are staying with Paul and Diana now and are a great help and comfort! Diana continues to get dialysis 3x week and rests in between so she's in good shape for the transplant in ONE MONTH!!!! THANK YOU LORD!!
DIANA'S TRANSPLANT IS SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 19 IN SALT LAKE CITY!!! PRAISE GOD!!
As you can see, Diana had to go into ICU Feb 24th because she was throwing up all night and her sugar was sky high! She had to stay for a couple days and finally got out Saturday afternoon. Paul had to start giving her insulin injections because her insulin pump didn't seem to working right. They are at Humphrey's diabetic Clinic right now trying to find out what the problem is. Please pray that they will be able to figure out what is making her throw up so much and what is making her sugar go up so high! It was at 600 while she was in the hospital! And get her pump working so Paul can go back to work! THANK YOU!!!!!!
Here's Diana getting her 3x week dialysis! Takes 4 hours - fortunately, she usually gets a nap in which is helping her body get better and better handle the transplant. She is on a very restricted diet but is sticking to it! And as always, an encouragement to all she meets!
Diana is in end state renal failure and is getting dialysis 3 times a week. Her friend who is giving her a kidney is a match! Praise God! So they are continuing to move forward to get all the necessary tests done on both of them and then Diana and Paul will go to Salt Lake City for the transplant! Please continue to pray that all the tests will go well and that they can move forward quickly. AND FOR THE $9000 THAT SHE NEEDS TO RAISE FOR HER EXPENSES IN SLC! THANK YOU!!
PRAISE GOD! SO GLAD YOU ARE FINALLY IN YOUR OWN HOME! PRAYING FOR YOUR CONTINUED RECOVERY!

My dear friends paul and diana, I pray you are feeling better today. The Lords mercies are new every morning. We go boldly into the thrown room and ask our God to send his ministering angels to you to uphold you and place the balm of Gilead upon you. There is a purpose for it all and He is with you each step of the way. I know you yet praise Him and are clinging to Him through it all. We love you and are with you in spirit.

Dear Paul and Diana,
Look at you two! Smiling for the camera when I know it's been a weary, tiring road you've been on since going to Salt Lake City. Oh, how I wish the post-op complications hadn't happened. Oh my dear! All you two have been through and you're still posting, smiling and enduring. Our hearts and prayers go out to you, and we're here to hold up your arms in battle on weary days. HANG IN THERE. Better days are coming! Like the Israelites going through their desert, may our Good Lord have your manna waiting for you each a.m. as you rise. May His Presence be your sustenance. Your brother and sisters and Christ love you dearly and are looking forward to your return to Meridian with that wonderfully new, working-hard kidney!
Love you, girl!

Hello, dear ones. I'm so sorry to hear of these continued struggled and suffering. I am praying right now and will continue in the minutes and hours ahead. Love you!
Donna Bahler
Dear Diana and Paul,
Chick and I are continually in prayer for you both and for the doctors that your health would return soon! We are trusting God that there is some purpose for this difficult and long delay. Praying that you could be encouraged by God's word in some way through this time. Is there a Christian radio station in Salt Lake that Diana can listen to? Or devotional CDs played for her? I know that music can alleviate or distract our minds from pain. And at the same time God could be more clearly speaking his encouragement to you Diana. We love you both and wait for news that things are turning the corner for the better.
Sharon and Chick
John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
Sharon and Chick Stults
Dear Diana and Paul: You are covered in prayer. It seems like the "least I can do is pray", but as you are truly aware, it is the most we all can do. Wish I could be there to hold your hand and give you hugs.
Even being exhausted, you guys look good. I know how hard this time is, but you are doing your best, for HIS glory! Others are seeing your faith in action, and you guys are a huge testimony to many around you. They are seeing Jesus in you, and His outpouring of love to you and to them, by the work He has one on the cross.
Hang in there, Diana and Paul. Though it seems you can't take any more, Jesus will hold you through anything He asks you to go through. And we must remember that the worst things we have to go through Jesus has already gone through, and more. I say this because I had to remind myself of this when I nearly died in February/March this year.
Hang onto His prize of eternal life that awaits each of us in His time.
We love you guys and will continuing praying.
Karen and Tim

Sweetest Dianie! You are so precious to us and you and Paul are being continually lifted up before the throne of Grace. I am sure this long time of suffering must feel like it will never end, but it will! God is still there with you both, and the family of believers are calling out to God on your behalf. Praise Him, we know He is hearing and responding to our prayers. May your eyes be lifted up to the God of the Universe, from Whom your help comes. He will not abandon you nor forsake you! With so much love! Mags and Don

PRAISE GOD FOR ALL THE MIRACLES HE HAS DONE AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO! WOW! I AM IN AWE!
Ruthanne Price
We are so grateful to hear you're through the tough surgery part of your journey. Now it's time to take things one day at a time, one moment at a time, accepting the hardships as a pathway to peace - Serenity Prayer. We are excited for you and Paul to continue on your journey together, loving your God, loving each other, and continuing on your pathway together with your LORD. Been praying for you, though!.
Sorry for not being in touch more, but we are celebrating the miracle of God's grace in giving me life for awhile longer. I had a dissection of my aorta from my shoulder to my hip, and, I've been in the hospital for the last 6 weeks.. God gave us a miracle by giving me more time to love Him and serve Him here, and have more time with Tim. I can share more when we have a chance to talk.
Always in His Hands, Karen & Tim and Max
I just learned about the successful surgery. Praising God also. Wish I could be there to see your sweet smile today.

Just talked to Paul and we are all shouting Prais The Lord, Diana Peed...... Now that surgery is over it is one more hurdle you have crossed. I have all faith that you will be crossing hurdles one by one and then you will get to come home to us. We love you, I love you sooooo much. Sharry
