Thank you for your support!
Thank you all for your support and donations thus far. We are excited to share that Derrick received his liver transplant on December 31 and is recovering at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He is making wonderful progress and even managed to take a short walk around the hospital unit. Derrick is getting stronger each day and his doctors are very pleased with his progress thus far.
Please continue to keep him and his family in your prayers as he makes his way down the road to recovery.
Hi Derrick,
My son Derrick Grimm is on here. I was looking up random pages on this site to see what other people’s pages looked like.
It’s so wonderful you received your transplant! How are you doing?
Warmly,
Shelby

Derrick has been one of the most influential males in my life. As his younger cousin, Derrick never lets it slip by how bad or devilish I was growing up with him and my younger cousins. From fighting some of my cousins, to even getting lost at the Continental Airlines Arena after a Nets game ( remember that one D lmao). He can't say growing up was boring especially if I was in the mix. But I in awe of Derricks spirit, his love for his family all over and especially to his son, Diallo and his beautiful wife Deanna (hey cuzz :D). I know that Derrick is going to make it through this circumstance and whatever the future may hold. And when things get tough Derrick just remember if you were able to survive rearing me up through all the hell, fire, and brimstone I put you through lol then you are going to come out stronger than ever. Much love cuz. I will have fufu and soup ready for you next time your up here or I'm down there. Take care and NEVER GIVE UP

Derrick, I've only known you for a short period of time, but what I do know about you is that you are an intelligent and caring person. I pray that God will bless you by putting great people in your life who will encourage you and speak into it. I know the last time we spoke you were talking about being on the waiting list to get a liver transplant, but man that was fast! I know God moved on your behalf so that you wouldn't have to wait or be in pain any longer. Stay strong and in the word - Isaiah 41:10 NLT. I'm praying for a quick recovery and I know that in all of this, you will come out with a better perspective on life and your priorities. We miss you here at Alternative Paths Training School and we hope to see you soon. Take care brother.

We had the pleasure of meeting Derrick when he attended Garrett College and was a teammate of our son, Joe (Joe always called him 'Sherm'). He came to our house on several occasions and was a favorite visitor, a very humble and kind young man. After Garrett I believe he attended Mount Aloysious and on a visit to Garrett County he presented me (Joe's Mom) with a team t-shirt, I was so pleasantly surprised. Derrick, we will pray real hard for you and your family at this most trying time and hope that your miracle happens.....real soon! With fondest memories and caring,
Carmen & Bob Tressler
Derrick is the father of my first and only son and is the love of my life. He will win his battle with liver disease and will overcome each of of the obstacles that will come his way. Our family is so thankful for the support and well wishes. Please continue to lift Derrick in prayer as he continue his journey back to good health, meanwhile monetary donations will help our family to cope with the financial changes and demands that we will expect in the coming days, weeks, months and years.
