Some of you know that I have been struggling with diabetic-related complications for several years. I am now in end-stage renal failure and my doctors at Indiana University Medical Center have told me that I need a life-saving kidney transplant.

I grew up in Martinsville, graduated in 1984 and attended Indiana University graduating in 1989. I still reside in Martinsville and am running my appraisal business. I am the single father of 3 wonderful sons, two who are still living at home and I must be on dialysis every night until I receive my transplant. My health has declined and now I am legally blind and walk on a prosthetic leg. Despite my obstacles, I approach every day with a positive attitude and am looking forward to being free of dialysis, watching my sons become successful adults, spending time with family and friends and becoming an active member of the community again.

Transplants are life-saving but financially draining. Even with insurance, there are many expenses that must be covered out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, lab fees and I will be on a life-time of expensive anti-rejection medications. In addition, I will not be able to return to work for a few months post-transplant. It has been estimated that these costs could exceed $20,000. This is where your support is needed.
