Dana is a loving wife, devoted mother, aunt, sister, daughter and good friend to many. You may have gone to school with Dana or worked with her. You may have seen her cheering on our kids, Elenna and Madden, at swim meets or soccer matches. Or maybe you know her from growing up in Raleigh, NC or her adventures out West. Dana has always been there for others, but now she needs the support of family and friends.
The next year will be incredibly challenging for our family – emotionally, physically, and financially. HSCT is currently in the trial phases in the US for MS but unfortunately Dana does not meet the criteria for these current trials. HSCT has been performed outside of the US for the last 20 years. Dana will be traveling to Puebla, Mexico to receive treatment at Clinica Ruiz. Her treatment will be performed by Guillermo José Ruiz-Argüelles MD, FCRP. Dr Ruiz was elected Mayo Clinic Distinguished Alumnus in October 2011 and elected Master of the American College of Physicians in April 2013. He is the author of 683 papers in international and domestic peer-reviewed journals. The cost of the procedure is $54,500 and is not covered by insurance. In addition, travel expenses are also not included in the cost of the procedure.
To help with the financial burden of Dana’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the South-Atlantic Stem Cell Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. To make a donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Donate Now button.
On behalf of Dana, our children and myself, thank you for your good wishes, generosity, support and prayers.

Dana has been battling Multiple Sclerosis for over 20 years. We are raising money for her to go to Mexico to receive a life altering Hematopoetic Stem Cell Transplant that will halt the progression of this debilitating disease. She was featured on the front page of the News & Observer back in February detailing her story.

I had the pleasure of speaking with the wonderful women of Quota Club International in Raleigh. We had great conversation and food. They listened to me speak about my journey with MS and how I came to the decision to pursue a Hematopoetic Stem Cell Transplant. They were gracious enough to support me in my efforts and I am forever grateful for their donation and their support. I also gained a new campaign slogan - Make Dana Great Again!!!
We had a Huge yard sale last weekend to raise money for my stem cell transplant. We had an unbelievable turnout and raised close to $3500!!! So many people donated items or volunteered their time to make it happen. I am in awe of everyone's generosity and selflessness and I can not thank them enough!!
