Lorie was born in Roanoke, VA. She is a loving mother a grandmother of eight and good friend to many. She has always helped family, friends, strangers, friends of friends etc. where ever there was a need not expecting anything in return just saying “pay it forward”. Unfortunately, due to her poor health she is no longer able to work or do many things we each take for granted every day. She hopes to get the support she needs from family, friends and the community so that she can get the transplant and return to taking her grandchildren camping, working and becoming an active member of the community again.
Transplants are lifesaving but financially draining. Even with insurance, Lorie needs to raise at least $15,000.00 for the costs that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these expenses are co-pays, deductibles, travel to and from the transplant center, relocation at the time of transplant for 3 months to a year to be closer to the hospital in Durham, NC. And she will be on a life-time of expensive anti-rejection medications. This is where your support is needed.
To help with the financial burden of Lorie’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Lung Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. On behalf of our family, thank you for your kindness, generosity, support and prayers.
