Up until just before Janet’s 42nd birthday, she was a normal, healthy person with the world in front of her. Janet has been married for over 15 years to her husband Mark whom she loves dearly. While having no children of their own, Janet loves children and has been a wonderful Aunt to her nieces and nephews, and even worked as a nanny for over 10 years–creating bonds that will last a lifetime. For the past six years, she had been working as a legal assistant and enjoyed her life and work immensely. To know Janet is to love her, she has so many in her life who love her dearly. She has a way of lighting up a room with her enthusiasm and fun-loving nature. She’s sweet, smart, kind, and fun to be around. To spend time with her is to laugh with her, that’s for sure! Janet and Mark love to do many different kinds of things together, such as travel, camping, amusement parks, or even just discovering new restaurants. The most important part of any experience for Mark, is sharing it with Janet.

In January 2015 everything changed. After returning home from a well need vacation Janet became sick went to the doctor and came home with a diagnosis of an inner ear infection. Unfortunately, the symptoms grew from mild dizziness to extreme dizziness, partial paralysis and extreme deterioration of speech in the course of 2 weeks. After several taxing months of grueling tests and unsuccessful treatments in May of 2015 she was officially diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis. Due to the nature of this debilitating disease Janet has lost her job, independence and the ability to perform daily activities. Just bathing or getting dressed can cause exhaustion. Due to the loss of her job, she is at the mercy of state aid for medical care. Although Janet has made great strides from her initial illness, treatment options are limited. Janet’s family found a treatment option in California which is not covered by her insurance.
