I’ve been on dialysis and the transplant list for two years now. We’ve got to be getting close, right?!? In that time, I’ve held a full-time job and adopted a little boy through the foster care system. He’s now 3. My husband and I are now in the process of adopting his 5-month-old brother, who we’ve had for most of his life. Due to the extraordinary expense of transplant, I am asking for your help so I can get transplanted and back to living life free of dialysis and the worries of the financial challenge and plan for a long life caring for my wonderful husband and children.
I have two separate insurance plans to cover my transplant, but I will still be left with thousands out of pocket, not to mention post-transplant medications, temporary housing to be close to the hospital post-transplant, transportation to and from the transplant center six hours away, etc.
To help with the financial burden of my uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Central Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider making a contribution.
Gratefully,
Amber
