My name is Amber, and I am a 32-year-old mom of two waiting on my second kidney transplant. I was diagnosed with kidney failure at the age of 17. Doctors said my immune system attacked my kidneys, though they don’t know why. I received a transplant when I was 20, which lasted for ten years. About halfway through my pregnancy with my son Owen, my kidneys stopped working and I was airlifted to a hospital two hours away where I stayed for three weeks. I was put on dialysis in hopes of saving Owen and myself, but he was stillborn at 25 weeks.

I’ve been on dialysis and the transplant list for two years now. We’ve got to be getting close, right?!? In that time, I’ve held a full-time job and adopted a little boy through the foster care system. He’s now 3. My husband and I are now in the process of adopting his 5-month-old brother, who we’ve had for most of his life. Due to the extraordinary expense of transplant, I am asking for your help so I can get transplanted and back to living life free of dialysis and the worries of the financial challenge and plan for a long life caring for my wonderful husband and children.
