For many years our family has been able to enjoy having our husband, father, and grandfather around, although we have been told many times that Jim “doesn’t have that much longer to live”. James Williamson is a hard-working farmer who grew up and still lives in Dunbarton, NH. He is the strongest person we have ever known. He has led his life as an example to us all that even though you face hardships, they do not define who you are. Jim is the kindest, most giving, loving, and sacrificing man with an internal obligation to help others before himself. His spiritual heart is strong and has fought hard for a very long time. His actual heart has been trying to keep up, but it can’t keep up like it used to.
Jim has had 6 major heart attacks which have left his heart severely damaged. He has gone through 3 clinical trials hoping to benefit both himself and others. Over his lifetime, Jim has had 6 ICD units (implantable cardioverter defibrillators) implanted and is 100% paced in his left and right ventricles. A healthy heart pumps blood with a rate of 85-100% ejection fraction. Jim’s is down to a minimal 10%. He has been upgraded to a level 2 on the heart transplant list by his team at Tufts Medical Center. We are grateful a new heart will be coming soon because his heart has very limited capabilities left.
While we wait for the blessing of a heart, there are monetary issues he faces daily that have become increasingly overwhelming. He relies on both an O2 machine and life line machine that have dramatically increased utility expenses. He has oxygen, 2 liters per minute at night and as needed during the day. Jim is currently on 18 different medications 5 times a day. These are extremely expensive, many not covered by insurance. Before and then after his heart transplant surgery there are additional financial stresses. Since Jim lives in Dunbarton, NH and his heart transplant team is at Tufts in Boston there are multiple travel expenses for the hour and a half trip: parking fees, gas, bus ticket expenses when they just can’t drive, food costs at the hospital for Jim’s wife when he is admitted. There is travel for the 5 days a week of doctor’s appointments and cardiac rehabilitation. Neither Biofeedback classes nor a Stress Relieving class are covered but would help him tremendously. Jim needs our support!
To help with the financial burden of James Williamson’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Northeast Heart Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please, consider a contribution.

If we all work together we can make Jim’s prospects for the future much brighter. One of Jim’s many joys is spending time with his grandchildren. His contribution
to their lives is priceless. We thank you in advance for the warm wishes and for any donation you can give to prolong the impact he can make in other lives.
With sincere gratitude,
Jim’s Family~

We can't believe how fast this last year has gone by. Another year our family had with our Dad and just about to celebrate another birthday Saturday with him. He will be the big 64!
The holiday season is his favorite time of year. We are fortunate he is home to celebrate with us. However, after Thanksgiving he will headed back to Tufts to have LVAD surgery. This is a Left Ventricular Assistance Device. It is pump that will be attached to his heart to help pump the blood out to the rest of his body. He will have a 4-6 week stay in the hospital in Boston and then recover at home for several months to follow. The device has wires that will exit through his stomach and he will be required to wear 4 batteries packs around his waist at all times to keep the pump working.
While this will be quite a life style change for Dad he is so grateful for a device that will allow him more time with his family. We are currently working on fundraising to help with travel costs, medical expenses and a generator for his house as he currently has no back up if power is lost. His new batteries will be required to be charged daily and loss of power could be life or death.
As we move into the holiday’s and time with our family we want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! And a reminder that Tuesday is giving Tuesday and any donation made to our Dad’s fundraising site will be free of credit card fees for processing and ALL donations are tax deductible. If you are planning on make donations this year please consider helping this wonderful man make this holiday season a little easier.

Thanks to everyone who donated to play in our March Madness pool. We raised over $500 with the winner able to take home 1/2 the prize. Our winner was Rob Ruma who was so generous to donate his winnings back to our charity. Thank you Rob!
Thanks to all those that support our campaign over the last month! And most recently the March Madness 50/50. A winner will be announced soon! 88 brackets were sold means the winner will walk away with $220 and $220 to benefit our dad. Thanks again and looking forward to our upcoming walk June 4th!
