Eddie Reeves, a father, brother, friend and family member, is in need of a lifesaving liver transplant and needs our help to make it happen. Transplants are a modern miracle of science but are very expensive.
In February 2015 Eddie knew something was wrong but was not sure what was happening to him. A blood test revealed the Hepatitis C virus which then caused cirrhosis of his liver. He has no idea how he was exposed except for the knee surgery he had when he was in his late teens. Eddie is on the transplant waiting list at Emory but he knows there is a long road ahead of him. He has always loved the outdoors, fishing, in particular. He tells me that he just misses the water and wouldn’t even care if he caught anything. He’s a simple man who eagerly awaits a time when he can enjoy being back on the water with the sights and sounds the day brings.
Transplantation and the follow-up medications and treatments are very expensive. Eddie’s Medicaid will help but will not cover all the post-transplant ant-rejection medications he will need to take for the rest of his life. He will also need care following the procedure and transportation to and from the hospital for follow up visits at least 3 times a week. Eddie’s out-of-pocket expenses, with both the extraordinarily expensive medications and aftercare, could exceed $20,000! This is a challenge Eddie cannot face alone. He needs our help!
To help with the financial burden of Eddie’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southeast Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please, consider a contribution.

My parents always told us that many hands make light work. They were right! Help me make a difference in my brother Eddie’s life. Please know that each and every contribution counts! Thanks you for your support, your generosity and your prayers. I will be updating this page when Eddie has surgery and will follow with updates on his recovery.
With sincere gratitude,
Harvey Reeves (Eddie’s brother)
