Timothy Scott Davis, better known as Tim, is a 47 year-old husband and father fighting for his life! In 2014, Tim was diagnosed with a severe case of COPD and emphysema and was found to be positive for a condition known as Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency or AAT. AAT is an inherited condition that raises your risk for lung disease causing shortness of breath, wheezing, repeated lung infections, fatigue, rapid heartbeat, and weight loss. Tim’s health has deteriorated and he was told by his pulmonologist that without a lung transplant, he may only live a couple years. His lung function is declining and Tim is at risk for severe infections and sudden respiratory arrest; Tim is now desperate and needs a lung transplant more than ever.
Tim has undergone extensive medical testing and is now officially on the active lung transplant list at IU Medical Transplant Center/Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is patiently waiting for the telephone call that will save his life and for the gift of life through donor lungs. A longtime resident of Terre Haute, Indiana, Tim worked hard his whole life as the owner of a carpet installation company. He has overcome many obstacles in his life, and now is determined and committed to stay healthy and continue his hard work at pulmonary rehab 3 times per/week, focus on good nutrition and health. On his free time, Tim loves spending time with his family and loving wife Donna of over 28 years. He loves to hunt and go fishing with his children, however these activities are all on hold until Tim has his surgery, and his new lease on life.
Lung transplants are lifesaving but very expensive and Tim is facing monumental out-of-pocket medical expenses. While he is out of work, co-pays and deductibles, medical appointments, travel and lodging fees, and living expenses are adding up to more than Tim can handle alone. He will also need costly, post-transplant medications to halt rejection that he will need for the rest of his life. Tim needs your financial help and support for his upcoming transplant and his life is depending on it.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Timothy ’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Great Lakes Lung Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Timothy has chosen to fundraise with HelpHOPELive in part because HelpHOPELive assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for donors. Donors can be sure that funds donated will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the yellow DONATE NOW button. For more information, please contact HelpHOPELive at 800.642.8399.
Tim and his family want to thank you ahead of time for your thoughts, prayers and generosity. Any donation amount, no matter how big or how small, is one step closer to a brighter future and better tomorrow for Tim.
Gratefully,
Tim’s family, friends and Community
Tim and Donna have been in Cleveland since June 24,2020 awaiting the call for lung transplant. Funds have been nearly exhausted, so they are continuing the fundraising efforts virtually due to the pandemic.
Other than a 8 day hospitalization in August for a pulmonary embolism, he has remained as active as possible to make sure he’s physically prepared for surgery and recovery.
Thank you so much for your continued support.
Dear friends and family,
We want to thank everyone who participated in the online auction, raffles, and 50/50 drawings. Because of your involvement, we have reached nearly $3,000 towards the goal!
Tim and I both are feeling so blessed and loved. We sense the prayers going up to heaven through a peace that we both feel, knowing God is in control of the timing regarding the transplant. Tim continues to work hard to stay as healthy as possible, so that he's ready to go when the time comes.
Meanwhile, fundraising efforts must also continue. Watch for details toward the end of July of the next online auction, plus more exciting raffles. Also, we are planning a spaghetti dinner with live music, raffles, 50/50 drawing and silent auction. Look for these details coming up toward the end of summer to early fall.
God bless each and every one of you!
Donna Davis
