In 2001, Cos was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). He began dialysis in May 2001. He received a kidney transplant on March 23, 2002. In September 2015, his donor kidney failed and he began Hemodialysis once again. After undergoing extensive testing, he has now been placed on the Kidney Transplant list.
Cos has been an active member of the Northeast Chamber of Commerce for almost 20 years. He has served on the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee, and the Chairman of the Board and has devoted many volunteer hours to the Chamber of Commerce. Cos and Carol have been active members of the CrossRoads Church of Fort Worth for over 15 years. Both have served on the Leadership team. Presently, Cos is a senior member of the Leadership team. He has run sound for Church Services on Sunday mornings, oversees the preparations for communion, and is responsible for home groups and supplies for the church. Having retired seven years ago, Cos and Carol both draw social security. Medicare will be responsible for a portion of the dialysis, the transplant expenses and medications. A large part will be unfunded including live donor expenses and expenses for the caregiver that is required post-transplant.
To help with the financial burden of Cos’ uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Central Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider making a contribution.
Your support is critical to the overall success of Cos’ quality of life. Please know that your contribution counts. We thank you in advance for your kind consideration.
Gratefully,
Cosimo DeLeo
