David grew up in the small town of Bardstown, Kentucky and is married to his high school sweetheart, Dianna. The have nine children together, who are all committed to seeing their father through his upcoming transplant surgery. David loves spending time with his grandchildren, but recently he has been too ill to visit them and spend quality time together. David served in the United States Army for several years and worked as a surgical technician. After his service in the Army, he worked at the University of Kentucky Hospital, assisting surgeons in open heart and kidney transplants. Now David is on the flip side of the coin and he is the one that needs help. David worked hard every day for over 40 years supporting his family and helping others in need. He was recently forced into early retirement as a result of his poor health, and now David’s life is in jeopardy as he is the one who needs a lifesaving transplant.
Transplants are lifesaving, but the costs to fund this procedure are overwhelming. David is undergoing extensive medical testing at Jewish Hospital in Kentucky, and continues to face many out-of-pocket medical expenses. Co-pays and deductibles, medical bills, and lab fees are quickly adding up to more than he can handle alone. Once David has his transplant surgery, he is required to take costly post-transplant medications that are needed for the rest of his life to halt rejection. David is also required to temporary relocate closer to the transplant center after his surgery and may need a full-time caregiver during the recovery process.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in David’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the South-Atlantic Heart and Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. David wants to thank everyone ahead of ahead of time for their generosity, support and kindness. Any donation amount, no matter how big or how small, is one step closer to a brighter future for both David and his family.
Gratefully,
David’s loving family, friends and community
